Hi everyone,

I am doing some research into emigration patterns from Ireland, and I am hoping you guys may be able to help.

I am looking at where the Irish settled in the US and I am mainly concentrating on Irish people originating in West Cork / Kerry Gaeltacht regions.

Thank you in advance

Paul

I suppose you'll already have found this site, but just in case:
http://www.immigrantships.net/

Mind you, it doesn't tell where they went after arriving in the US, but it might be a starting point at least.

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

What time period are you researching?

That is a very wide range.

I'd suggest contacting the folklore departments in Ireland. Remittances home and paying siblings fares were an important part of life, and made it into stories. There would be evidence there of where people were.

Because relatives often paid peoples fares over, there was a lot of clustering.
