In your opinion, do you think that the Aonach Tailteann (or the Tailteann Games to english speakers in our midst) should be brought back in to being? In my opinion, it should as it would bring some national pride bak to the country in the same way as it did in 1924. It would be great platform for the Irish language also. I think its an excellent idea. I think the organisers of the original Aonach Tailteann were overly ambitious including a very wide range of activities such as Billiards, Cycling, Motor-Boat Racing and even Fireworks! Any revived event should confine itself to aspects of Gaelic culture and, of course, the Irish language should be at it's core. Unfortunately, that site is being revamped. An tOireachtas is a festival of Irish Culture, focussing on the langauge, spread over two events - one in May and one in November. Tens of thousands of people attend. |

Is cóir níos mó obair a dhéanamh ar son an tOireachtas, An Chuairt, is na cluichí ceannais seachas féilí nua. Ó go n-ithe an diabhal thú!

I am, of course, well aware of An tOireachtas, a Aonghuis. The Aonach Tailteann would be a more "outdoors" type of event. Séamus Ó Murċaḋa Inis fá réim i gcéin san Iarṫar tá Dá ngoirid luċt léiġinn Tír Éireann fialṁar cáil

Ach conas a chuirfí an teanga chun cinn, mar sin? Bíonn paráid/scléip na hÓige ag an Oireachtas. Tá sin amuigh faoin aer. |

Heard on the radio that is costs over 800,000 euro to organise the Oireachtas! That seems mad, I can't do the maths here. |

Imtheacht a bheadh beagán cosmhail leis na "Highland Games" atá i m'intinn féin - dírightear ar ghníomhartha coirp. Bheadh sé go soiléir do chách go mbeifí ag súil go n-úsáidfí an Ghaedhilg ina rith. Tuilleadh eile, is dóigh liom gur chóir a rádh go gcabhruigheann rath agus meas ar ghné amháin d'oidhreacht Ghaedhealach na hÉireann le gach gné eile. It's worth every penny, don't get me wrong and it is one of the most important events in the country. I have been but I still can't imagine how it gets to 800,000euro! They are 500,000 short in funding as they said State funding is reduced to 300,000 this year. |

Well I have no experience of organising that kind of event, but publicity would run the bill up in a big way I guess. I hope they get the extra funding from the Foras. |

Sin smaoineamh maith. Chruthofaí an oiread deiseanna nua. Vearsa sean nós i ndiaidh rás snámha (freagra gaelach don Biathlon) nó cluiche leadóg curtha le chéile le hagallamh beirte, cur i gcás. D'fhéadfaidís lánaí reatha a chur timpeall an halla rince. Dá n-éireofá tuirseach den síorólachas agus imeachtaí neamhsláintiúla i rith Club na Féile, d'fheádfá beagán aclaíocht a dhéanamh. Chaithfinn mo vóta ar a shon, cinnte. (Message edited by an_chilleasrach on April 20, 2010) |
