My son is getting married in May and he and his fiancee would like the inscription 'Forever and a day' in gaelic inside their wedding bands.
Would any one be able to tell me the correct translation for this phrase please.

It's very hard to translate things word for word but

"Go Deo" means "forever" and is nice and short to fit

into a ring. It's pronounced guh Joe.

"Go brách na breithe" would be a possibility - poetic turn of phrase with consonantal alliteration and all that - if you are looking for something less bare than "go deo".

"Go deo na ndeor" is yet another possibility.
Is geal leis an bhfiach dubh a ghearrcach féin.

Another possibility is:

ar feadh na síoraíochta

roughly "for ever and ever" or "for all eternity".
I ndiaidh a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin.
