A Chairde, Dia daoibh!
No this is nothing to do with O'Cuív.
I found a link to this book on Dave Webb's site, the link is:
http://books.google.com/books?id=V2EUAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=irish+made
It is Google Books, so there should be no problems.
It is however, quite difficult to read, but as it is quite a small book, and, since I managed to extract a useable text, I decided to re-typeset the book.
The whole text, such as it is, is in the pdf file:
http://www.box.net/shared/y0o4s1fhie
in Box.net. The work is in progress, and I have so far got up to page 21 of the typesetting.
I have used Gadelica font for seanchló, as bunchló is unstable on my mac.
Proof readers are needed, specially to comment on points I have found dubious, and/or "corrected".
I have corrected the errata given in the errata list, and marked the corrections with star-superscript-'e'.
My own "corrections", I have highlighted in yellow. If they are to stand, my corrections will be added to the errata.
This work is public domain.

A chairde, Dia daoibh!
I have just formatted a couple more pages.
I have also set all the pagebreaks, and page headers.
The work in progress is still at the same location.

If I may suggest. When done, leave out all notations of errata within the text itself and mention that the original errata have been done in the process of re-typesetting the book itself. Such notations with superscripts in the text is distracting as well as ugly. I hope that you will agree.

Now, in your statement, you would like that each of us go over what you, yourself have done and to compare it with the original?

Next question is: would you like it were others to volunteer to typeset a few pages (3-4) at a time and then to forward them on to you for inclusion and your own proofreading and such?

I, too, have a Mac. Can you forward the Bunchló font to me so that I can help out a bit? If you are unable to do so, I can do the work on my Parallels Windows machine on my Mac that has Bunchló on it.

I hope that this is helpful to you.

Anis

Anis, a chara,
Yes, I agree, when done, the individual references to the original errata can be deleted, with a note under the original errata list stating that they have been incorporated.
Yes, That is what is needed for quality.
Though your suggestion that other volunteers might typeset pages, though it sounds a good idea, it requires that the MS Word file is circulated in various differing states, and this could be a source of error, as well as complication.
There are other books that I have the Google scans of, but only if the majority of text is in Roman font, can the text be extracted from the scanned file.
The seanchló font in this book needs to be reconstructed by hand, the OCR only works on Roman font, and not on all of that.
Bunchló font is unstable on a Mac, and though more 'traditional', is far less readable than Gadelica, which is completely stable.
You can find Bunchló Arsa, the font with long s, and long r, at: http://phouka-focal.blogspot.com/2006/02/bunchl-rsa-font.html
Or Gadelica, which also has long r+s, but is stable and more readable at: http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/~oduibhin/mearchlar/fonts.htm

The problem with bunchló is that after a while of use, if not immediately, though Word finds the font, it presents the text as bualite Roman font, which is specifically not what we want.

Yet another 4 pages.
The table on page 36 seems to be littered with errors, I have highlighted those which I consider doubtful.

Persuant to an email from Michael J McDermott Jr, I have made emmendations to the text, and reposted the work.
Michael's observations, up to page 17 of 101 are:
pdf 7 = print [ ] MOST DEVOTED SERVANT. -- Change period to comma.
15 [xi] at line 9. Diphthongs ...: Sunndi (fee note -- Should be: Sound (see note
same at line 20, 21, ...: 31,32 -- Add space after comma.
on pdf 17 [ ] at line the language ...: four: -- Should be: four : to match the original

I noticed in correcting these points that my double space after sentence break period was inconsistent. This I also corrected.
Le meas,
Dave.
