Alrighty.. another grammar thingy I can't figure out!! Hope someone can shed some light on this.
I got a text from a friend of mine from Conamara and they had written 'mo deireadh seachtaine sa' like this.

Is there any reason why there is no séimhiú in 'deireadh'-- I thought there would be as it is coming after 'mo'.

Grmma as ucht aon chabhair!

Why no séimhiú on "deireadh" after "mo"? Simply because your friend made a spelling mistake :-)

I shall ask them to say 'mo dheireadh seachtaine' for me.. I'm just asking things all the time and wanted to give them a break! I was thinking that there was a chance that in the Conamara dialect they don't pronounce the 'h' in 'mo dheireadh seachtaine'. Tbh their spelling can be bad but I'd (almost) give my right arm to have their spoken Irish and my spelling :)

No, in all dialects you lenite nouns after "mo" (except some proper nouns borrowed from other languages).

Btw they pronounce "deireadh" as "deire" in Connemara.
