Bhí an scéal seo ar leathanach tosaigh an Irish Timmes inniu!

quote:

Ireland’s Soldiers Song seems to have turned into more of an Internationale, thanks to a free karaoke download from [A city in Finland] that teaches the words to Amhrán na bhFiann.

Aimed at those Irish natives who can barely stumble past the first few words of their national anthem as Gaeilge, the application has appealed to Gaeilgeoirí as far away as Vietnam and Turkey.

A nice version of the Finnish national anthem is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3bLSpX8e3o&feature=related

It is sung first in Finnish and then in Swedish (the Swedish being the original words)

Níl amhrán oifigiúil againn, ar chúis nó eile.

Tá an leagan bunaidh ó "Maamme" (Ár dtír) scríofa le J.L. Runeberg mar an chéad dán ina leabhar "Vänrikki Stålin tarinat" (nó "Scéalta an Dara-Leifteanant Cruach") i Sualainnis san 1846. Chum Fredrik Pasius an ceol san 1848.

Úsáidtear an ceol céanna san amhrán náisiúnta den Eastóin agus bhí a chéad léiriú mar sin san 1869 i dTartu. Shocraigh an dán mar ár amhrán ach i dtosach den 1900i. Tá "Finlandia" le Jean Sibelius tairgthe mar ár n-amhrán oifigiúil.

Tine, siúil liom!

is oiriúinach ár ndord ó thaobh an fhoinn de, is féidir lei lucht mór a spreagadh a haer.

ach ni bhainimse puinn súp as na focail amaideacha. gnáthbhladar an náisiúnachais dar liom.

Bhí ciall leis in am a chumtha.

Níl sé leath chomh fuilteach leis an Marseillaise, abair...

Tá sé ana dheacair iomann a bheidh glacadh leis an bpobal go forleathan leis a chumadh. Tá gá le spreagadh agus múscailt éigin ann.

Is maith liom ceann neamh oifigiúil na hAlbain....

Roisín beag geal na hAlbain

quote:

When charity shall stand in Scotland's tongue
For leal and soothfu band wi aa that lives
When riches are nae mair the work o wrang
But shall requite the ane that freest gives

When Scotland's great are they wha kindest can
Lift ithers' loads tae gie their spirits room
Then wi a glad upspringin til the sun
The winds o aa the world I shall perfume

Táid go léir feiliúinach in am na cogaiochta, ambaist.

Ná fuil ar ár gcumas slua a aontú i ndord, gan trácht ar fuil is foréigin.?

Bimse fhéin ag cáineadh na sean-impireachtai is na tiortha antoisceacha de dheascaibh an béim a chuirid ar buaine an bhfoiréigin, cé go nglactar leis an mheoin ghearrbhreathnaitheach céanna sa tir seo!

Tá's agam, ná fuil sé praiticiúil ná cúiseach athrú a chuir orthu (amhráin an domhain), ach ni ionann sin is a rá gur chóir dúinn iad a chosaint!

Ó go n-ithe an diabhal thú!

Is fearr liom Amhrán na bhFiann ná The Fields of Athenry, an amhrán náisiúnta neamhoifigiúil. B'fhearr liom nach raibh an maidin feicthe ag na gasúir!
