Celtic Languages and Literatures
The Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures, Harvard University,
proposes to appoint an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Celtic Languages
and Literatures, effective July 1, 2010. Candidates must have near native fluency
in Scottish Gaelic and Modern Irish and expertise in both Scottish Gaelic and
Irish literatures, with a strong research interest in the cultural histories of
Scotland and Ireland and their relationship with one another. Familiarity with the
English and Scots literary traditions of both countries is also desirable. We are
open to applicants specializing in any period from the Classical to the
contemporary. A strong doctoral record, as well as promise of excellence in both
research and teaching, is required.
The appointee will teach and advise students at the undergraduate and
postgraduate levels, and will be expected to develop innovative courses at both
levels.
