1. I love this site but I believe that there is too little discussion about Gaeilge per se. Why not have more of: conas mar a deirtear seo agus conas is fearr mar a deirtear siúd(?). An iomarca cainte i mBéarla faoi stádas na Gaeilge! (sorry folks) Now I am just a simple learner who cannot contribute much, or anything at all really, as regards the ins and outs of the language. Therefore I get the most benefit out of the discussions about the nitty-gritty of Irish that people like Aonghus, Lughaidh, Taidhgín etc and the other people - dare I say it - who can deliver the real goods about the workings of the actual language itself than any meta-talk in English about the language. Take your FGB in your hand agus abair é as Gaeilge! And I will try to do likewise. I have noticed that certain very good contributors seem to be contributing here less and less mar gheall ar an mbéim ar an mBéarla(?) - Dennis King, Abigail etc. 2. An bhfuil blaganna ar siúl as Gaeilge? Which ones would you recommend? I have googled ("Blag Gaeilge") it but I can't find anything. Or would they be too difficult yet for me. |

Aontaím leat, a Acco. Is dócha gurbh fhearr gan dul i ndeabhaidh lainne le lucht an tsíor-Bhéarla. Aontaím leat = I agree with you gurbh fhearr = that it would be better i ndeabhaidh lainne = into a sword fight / to engage in strife/contention etc lucht = (class of / category of) people lucht oibre = those who work / workers lucht déirce = those who seek alms / beggars síor- = perpetual |

Níor thuig mé go raibh tú san Eilvéis, a Acco! Inis dom má bhíonn tú i dZúirí riamh agus seasfaidh mé deoch duit. Airím uaim an Ghaeilge anseo. Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Go raibh maith agaibh a chairde. Tá an Ghearmáinis agam ó dhúchas, a Sheáin, ach bhí mé i mo chónaí in áiteanna eile freisin. Mar sin níl teanga dhúchais iomlán agam i ndáiríre, mar tá tionchar an Bhéarla ann freisin. GRMA a Thaidhgín, is fear mór na Gaeilge tú! (Phew! that was tough but I do my best.) |
