I'm off to see a stage version of An Béal Bocht, De Sathairn. It is pruduced by a company called Aisling Ghear.Apparently the actors speak as Gaeilge with an immediate English translation.Sounds a bit mad ,but then so is the book.Has anyone seen a stage version of An Béal Bocht.I may have to explain some of the 'action' to an English friend.Hope I'm up to the task!

The "immediate English" will be simultaneous translation through earphones.

I haven't seen it, but it got very good reviews in various Irish language periodicals.

They have successfully done this play several times. And others with simultaneous translation.

Yeah An Béal Bocht came to Strabane and Letterkenny , close to where i live , but i was teaching an Irish class that night , as was a lot of my friends , or some were attending classes so they couldnt attend, pity. But i did see "Stones in his Pockets" in Irish not so long ago and it worked well, with Headphones for the
Non-Irish speakers. So yeah it can work.

Bhuel, chuaigh mé go dtí Maigh Chromtha chun An Béal Bocht a fheiceáil.

Bhí na cuideachta go h-iontach.D'oibrigh siad go dian ar feadh an oíche.

Agus bhí na piosaí chluaise(?)an mhaith.Ach bhí an aistritheoir ag caint gan script! Is fíor dheachair an rud céanna agus, uaireanta,bhí sé in a thost.Bhéidir go raibh imni air.

Tá náire ormsa a' rá go raibh an lucht féachana an bheag;timpeall fiche daoine - ar a mhéad.Bhí an oíche sin an fhuar, ach tirim.Ach tháinig mo cara Sasanach agus tá an Ghaeltacht Mhuscraí cúig déag nóiméad ó shin....

Míle buíochas leis an cuideachta - Aisling Ghéar - cé a chreidfeadh go mbionn siad ag obair ar an teilifís agus scannáin mhóra?

Maith agaibh arís.

Please feel free to correct the above btw!
