If "TBC" is ever going to be made into a film, it should be made in accordance to the following guidelines:
-filmed through the Connacht and Ulster dialects.
-filmed through a gritty, Sergio Leone style of cinematography.
-keep the use of CGI's to a minimum (except where necessary).
-use bodhráns to add tension to fight/standoff scenes
-it might possibly be around 2 to 3 hours long?
-use Ciaran Carson's transliteration of "The Táin" as the script for the film, after nothing else will do.
-the film poster be going along the lines of the cover of Ciaran Carson's "The Táin".

good point, in the tain the was a mention of an elite group of warriors from Munster. they can be included, thanks for that.

I saw a film where you could hear mysterious messages in Old Irish. Sounds well-pronounced, they asked an Old Irish "trainer". There are actors who play in a language they don't speak at all, they learn everything by heart. Could be possible for old Irish too...

I think we don't know much about what the dialects were like at that time, because we don't know where the scribes were from... But I'm sure there were dialects then, because there are now, and at that time it was more difficult to travel from place to place, so peculiarities must have developped in every place too.

if you base the film script on the original texts (which have Old Irish) there shouldn't be any problems.

No one will be able to understand Old Irish. I was surprised to read recently that Peadar Ua Laoghaire who updated some old stories had to rely on the English translations, rather than updating directly from the Middle Irish, which he couldn't understand...

well if you get the original script, and manage to translate it to new irish, would that be a problem?

Yes, Lughaidh, it certainly would be interesting to hear Old Irish spoken! You could either go for authenticity, or reinterpret Old Irish pronunciation in the light of modern Irish.
