Ceart go leor a dhaoine uasal,
For today's topic...
What is the best way to learn, encourage and promote the Irish Language? Through talking or through writing?
Lig dom, to start off this subject-I personally would prefer to promote the language through talking, after all how else did we learn english or Irish in the first place?

Well, I can really only speak about where I live in Beal Feirste and specifically the west of the city where the language has been greatly promoted and it seems to have worked.

Over the years bilingual signage has become the norm on shop signs (even the multinational supermarkets have it). Then, we have seen a dramatic increase in Gaelscoils, from 1 to 10 primary schools and 1 secondary, from 9 pupils in 1991 to 530 now. (Not to mention the amount of adult classes on offer at nightime across the west of the city).

These are the two things that stand out for me in what has happened so maybe these two things are a good way of promotion, promotion of bilingual signage and promotion of the Irish medium education.

Seamás, cá raibh tú le tríocha bliain?

Molaim duir súil a chaitheamh ar shuíomh Conradh na Gaeilge.

Agus, ó tharla i dTrá Lí tú, dul chun cainte le Pádraig Mac Fhearghusa, Uachtarán an Chonradh.

Is iomaí rud atá ag tarlú, gach áit san tír. Ach ní ghoebhaidh tú mórán scéala faoi as Béarla!

Bhuel, sin léithscéal airithe (Ní raibh mé iomlán dairíre!)

Ach ba cheart duit níos mó eolais a lorg faoi cad atá ag tarlú, sula dtosnaíonn tú plé as an nua. Tá stair ann, agus is mithid foghalim aisti.

Táim.

Bíonn tuairimí láidre ag daoine faoi - go minic gan mórán eolas ar cad atá ann cheana, agus cad atá ag obair.
