How does one convey the possessives in a vocative? One method I saw was the use of le + noun/pronoun. Is this the most predominent use? Are there others? I understand this possession may be understood from context, but I am interested in how to state it explicitely. Mar shampla: Suigh síos, a ghasúir liom. Sit down, my boy. I ndiaidh a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin.

Yes, "a ____ liom" is the way to do it. "A Dhia liom, a Dhia liom, cad chuige ar thréig tú mé?" It's rare you would at all though, outside of prayers. I'd normally translate "my boy" as "a mhac" or some such. (In fact, isn't this exactly the phrase - and the subtitle - used in that lovely scene in Yu Ming is Ainm Dom? I must dig that out and watch it again...) Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!
