i came across this line in a story i am reading, and it is causing some trouble. i understand it is about a hole in the road which a poor girl falls into, but the "aici" word is troubling me, can anyone literally translate the whole sentance please?

Literally: But there is deep hole of water with her and in a moment the poor unfortunate girl is falling in.

I suppose that aici in this instance means something "but she is faced with a deep hole full of water and the next moment the poor unfortunate girl has fallen in to it

I think the evidence is that I am wrong. Because I operate instinctively, not rule based, but am aware of the rules, I make mistakes when I think too much.

Of course, I know somewhere, way in the nether-reaches of my mind, that you might be wrong. But my world tilts a wee bit off its axis every time I even contemplate the possibility -- no pressure, though -- so I quickly banish it from my internal discussions.

Far more likely, I say to myself, that (a) I have reversed the fundamentals in my mind -- and believe me, I do, on a regular basis, or (b) there is another cause for lenition that I have yet to learn. Especially when googling an cheart produced 5610 results!

So allow me to cling to my hero-worship, dear Aonghus, and let the universe will unfold as it should!
