Dia dhaoibh a chairde,

Agus mé ag scríobh r-phoist cupla nóiméad ó shin tá mé anois ag smaoineamh ar cupla rud nach bhfuilim cinnte faoi.

Do 'She seemed nice and friendly' scríobh mé 'Dhealraigh sí go deas cairdiúil'.

An bhfuil an t-aistriúcháin sin uafásach agus an bhfuil bealach níos nádúrtha ann chun é sin a rá?

An ceist eile a rith liom ná:

Chonaic mé 'ag an deireadh seachtaine beag seo' scríofa ag duine. An bhfuil sin níos nádúrtha fós ná 'deireadh seachtaine' as féin?

Go raibh maith agaibh!

Déarfainn:

''Bhí cuma deas agis cairdiúil uirthi''
She seemed nice and friendly

Gaeilge go deo!

Ciallaíonn "beag" san comhthéacs seo an ceann is giorra dúinn. (Last nó next ag brath ar an comhthéacs)

Lorg beag anseo:

Aontaím le Trigger. Bheadh drogall orm "Dealraigh" a úsáid do chailíochta nach bhfeiceann tú le do shúile, cé gur féidir é úsáid go meafarach.

Ah sorry I didn't explain fully! I didn't meet the person so that's why I wasn't saying 'tá cuma..uirthi' which I would usually use to describe someone but as I hadn't met her myself I didn't think I could use that phrase ya know? For example I was describing Maolra Mac Donncha once and I used cuma air in that context.

I had been sent an email by this girl asking me for a friend's contact details so I wanted to say she seemed nice..etc. So even here can I use 'cuma'?

Sorry for not explaining that properly in my first message.

Céard faoi:

'dearfá go bhfuil sí deas cairdiúil'

Rinne mé meancóg beag ar an aistriúchán a rinne mé:

Agus atá i gceist agam, ní ''agis''.

:-)

Gaeilge go deo!

Hi Trigger:

Tá mé ag ceapadh nach bhfuil gá le 'agus' sa chás sin ar aon chuma.

Bhuel sa chás sin, a Shinéad, is dócha go scríobhadh mise
"Cheap mé go raibh sí deas, cairdiúl"

Go raibh maith agaibh! Tá an r-phoist seolta aici anois agus tá súil agam gur chailín deas atá inti sa deireadh thiar thall! :)
