D'úirt colcheathar liom go ndeireann cara léi 'deoch an dorais' le haghaidh 'one for the road'!

So bhí me ag léamh liom thart Google agus d'úirt foinse amháin gur sa Scots Gaelic a úsáideann siad an fhriotal sin go minic. Níor chuala mé 'deoch an dorais' roimhe seo. An mbíonn sé á usáid go minic in Éirinn nó an bhfuil aon dóigheanna eile ann chun 'one for a road' a rá/a aistriú?

Caithfidh sibh ól le Gaeilgeoirí níos minice, is léir! Cloiste (agus ráite) go minic agamsa. Is maith liom leagan Sheosaimh, ach is dócha go mba cheart deoch an chlaí a sheachaint!

Aontaím le hAonghus. Ólaigí le Gaeilgeoirí -- agus ceannaígí deoch dóibh!

Is fearr liom an ceann sin a chloisteáil ná é a rá.

Trigger, a chara, deirtear freisin i gConamara 'Is leatsa an cheann seo'.

Aonghus: An féidir idirdhealú a dhéanamh idir deoch an dorais agus deoch an chlaí?
(Bí cineálta liomsa!!)

Tá agus fuaimíonn sé mar 'cath siar é' i gConamara ach 'caith siar é' an litriú atá air. Deirtear sin go minic anseo :)

Oh no is foghlaimeoir mé chomh maith ach cónaíonn mé ar an Spidéal anois- beidh mé ag dul ar ais ar obair go gairid agus ag bogadh :( Ach tá mé ag foghlaim le cúig mhí nó mar sin anois.

Hm... céard a chiallaíonns 'gugaí siar'? Tá sé cloiste agam díreach anois ar an raidió.

D'fhiafraigh Sinéad
quote:

An féidir idirdhealú a dhéanamh idir deoch an dorais agus deoch an chlaí?

Níl fhios agam. Ach má fhágann an deoch sa chlaí thú, is dócha go bhfuil barraíocht ólta agat?

A Shinéad, bhí mé ag ceapadh go raibh tú ag foghlaim Gaeilge níos faide ná cúig mí mar gheall ar an méid Gaeilge atá agat, an raibh do chuid Gaeilge réasúnta maith sa chéad dul síos?

Gaeilge go deo!

ah.ha tuigim anois- claí - as in ditch!- Bhí mé ag smaoineamh ar 'fence' agus níor thuig é mar sin de.
Go raibh maith agat! Sea má fhágann an deoch sa chlaí thú is dócha go bhfuil 'braon beag thar an gceart istigh agat' mar a déarfá sa 'Pádhraic Mháire Bhán'.
(actually does that mean that you aren't all there?!! I was taking it to mean a drop too much to drink)

Trigger- well bhí agus ní raibh i mo thuairim. Chaith mé seal gairid i monarcha i gCasla cupla bliain ó shin ach d'fhág me ar leataobh é mar gheall ar an iarchéim tar éis sin agus tá mé ag foghlaim go 'lán aimseartha' ar m'aonar agus bíonn rang agam chuile choicís le cúig mhí anois- ceithre uair sa lá b'fhéidir a bhíonn ag staidéar. Tá mé cromtha air i ndáiríre ach tá orm dul ar ais ag obair :(
