How would I say "optical confusion" in Irish?

For those interested, my photo is a very famous demonstation of optical confusion created in the 70's.

If the center of my photo vibrates or jumps around when you stare into the center of it, it is not an animation. The reason the center jumps around is because your eyes cannot focus on the center like they are designed to do. This "confusion" causes the object to flip back and fourth between the different receptors in your eye.

My first guess was to use a noun + adjective combination.

seachmall radhairc is what focal gives for optical illusion, which I think covers what you are saying.

Tranglam suggests stuff tangled, and doesn't fit. Mearbhall would.

Well, I won't claim to really know the differece between the two. But from my undertanding, optical illusions and optical confusion are not quite the same thing.

An optical illusion is when the brain manifests an image or concept of an image from the information that the eye is receiving. This is why we can see both a young and old woman in the same picture. Your eyes are receiving the image just fine, however, your brain is having trouble because it can form the image of both depending on what you are trying to see at that particular moment.

Optical confusion happens when your eyes cannot physically perceive the image, and this lack of physical information is playing havoc on the brain who is trying to form an image.

If mearbhall works, then I think it might be better to stay with this word.
