Dia daoibh,

I must admit I haven't written much Irish in a few weeks. I have been severely preoccupied with work. July was almost hell with two top-selling movies, however, I have now managed to have some free time and write a story about a recreational trip I had the time to attend.

The text hasn't been ground into total shape, I have written it over a period of a week bit by bit. It may not follow grammar at times, but it is here, and I'll be posting it before I change my mind or possibly edit it into a worse shape.

Agus anois, go dtionscnaí an scéal.

***********

Ar an Satharn, an t-ochtú den Lúnasa, bhí mé ar turas éagsúil ar traein. Bhí sé mo chéad traeinthuras i gceithre bhliain dhéag, agus mo dhara turas ar traein le lócó gaile. Bhí an turas roimhe sin sa naoi gcéad déag ochtó cúig.

Ritheann an t-iarnród a bhfuil i gceist idir Toijala agus Valkeakoski. Ní úsáidtear an chuid ród go tráthrialta a thuilleadh, ach le trácht tionsclaíoch is turais eachtracha anois agus arís.

Bhí mo mháthair is mo dheartháir liom. Thionscnaíomar ón stáisiún sa Toijala. Shiúil an stiúrthóir ó charráiste go carráiste mar sa seanam. Thairg mam an turas dúinn agus d'íoc sí na ticéid. Bhí siad seanfhaiseanta freisin, píosaí beaga de cairtchláir donn, le cló dubh is dearg. Siúil aon buachaill óg idir charráistí freisin, dhíol sé cártaí poist le phictiúir de trealamh sean.

Stad an traein i ndiaidh fiche nóiméad ar Wanha Asema, "An Sean-Stáisiún" sa Metsäkansa. Chuaigh roinnt paisinéirí i dtír agus cheannaigh iad caife ón ceaintín. D'fhanamar isteach is chuimhníomar ar an turas san ochtóidí: Bhí na carráistí níos sean san am sin, bhí soirn le tine adhmaid ar a gceanna araon is lampaí ola ar a mballaí. Bhí lampaí leictreacha bataire sa carráistí seo, agus téamh le cúrsaíocht uisce.

Tar éis sos ó fiche nóiméad, leanamar ar ár dtaisteal chun stáisiún téarmach sa Valkeakoski. Chuamar thar goirt toirtiúla, trí choillte uaine is láithreáin tionsclaíocha.

Ar deireadh thángamar chun an stáisiún san Antinniemi. Leanann an iarnród chun Kirjasniemi, ach ní tiomáintear traenacha paisinéirí chun ann. Stad an traein san Antinniemi go leathuair. Casadh an lócó thart is gabhadh suas ar an cheann eile den traein agus d'fhágamar ais chun Toijala.

I ndiaidh an turas, cheannaíomar cebab agus d'imigh abhaile chun mam. Um tráthnóna, tráth a raibh mé ag dul abhaile d'obair, chuala mé an lócó ag tiomáint anonn agus anall ar an clós stáisiúin, ag séideadh a fheadóg anois agus arís.

Tine, siúil liom!

An-mhaith. Cúpla leasú:

Bhí sé Ba mo chéad traeinthuras i gceithre bhliain dhéag é

Ní úsáidtear an chuid seo den ród go tráthrialta a thuilleadh, ach le amháin do trácht tionsclaíoch is turais eachtracha anois agus arís.

Siúil aon buachaill óg amháin
sean trealamh [Sean seems to be an exception to the rules for adjectives, it usually precedes the noun]

Chuaigh roinnt paisinéirí i dtír agus cheannaigh iad caife ón ceaintín.

Not sure you can go to land from a train. Thuirling roinnt paisnéirí is what I'd say.

D'fhanamar isteachigh [No movement!]

níos sean sine breischéim

Cúpla mionrud eile, ach níl deis agam anois é chíoradh. An-obair.

GRMA.

Siúil buachaill óg amháin

On second thought I could also lose amháin from that sentence.

D'fhanamar istigh

If I'm allowed to compare to Finnish, "jäädä sisälle|sisään" (stay in) or "pysyä sisällä" (remain inside). Many people don't really distinguish the two, while they carry a slight difference, and one or the other may be better applicable in different cases. The former theoretically involves movement, the latter doesn't. The Irish translation for the idea is of the latter quality then.

Thuirling roinnt paisinéirí

So the Irish "descend" from most vehicles? Finns are used to "ascending" both ways in most cases, except "sitting into" the car, also "stepping into" the plane, ship, and train are used.

*****

Bhuel, ar maidin an Mháirt, bhí uair amháin codlata agam, tráth a ghlaoigh an doirseoir den tigh pictiúrlainne sa Toijala orm. Chreachtaí an phictiúrlann agus an siopa gruagaire béal dorais.
Bhí teilifíseán maol is Playstation 3 in éineacht lena cluichí agus a rialaitheoirí imithe, chomh maith le roinnt airgead. Bhí an méarchlár agus taispeántas ríomhaire scairdte le péint dubh a fuair na coirpigh sa caibinéad a d'oscail siad le treise lámh.
Ón siopa gruagaire, bhí ach cúpla triomadóirí, gearrthóirí agus beagán airgead goidte.

Tine, siúil liom!

Then I'd say "turas difriúil".
To me "éagsúil" means "different" in the meaning "several" "various" or "of many sorts", as in "in the different countries I've visited".

Thánaic daoiní éagsúla chuig an chóisir = Various people came to the party.
Tá na daoiní sin difriúil = These people are different.

Chreachtaí Creachadh an phictiúrlann agus an siopa gruagaire béal dorais.
(Ní tharlaíonn sé gach lá!)

Ón siopa gruagaire, níor goideadh ach

ní raibh ach ... goidte
