Níor mhaith liom é. Daoine a bhíonns ag "deileáil" le chéile, mín nó crua. Bhí baint aige le... Bhí plé ann ar... Rinne sé trácht ar... Thug sé aird faoi leith ar... Dhírigh sé ar... Tharraing sé ar... (Message edited by abigail on August 10, 2009) Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Tacaím le hAbigail. Plé is túisce a ritehadh liomsa, muna bhfuil tú ag iarraidh bhí níos cruinne. Nó "X ba ábhar don mhodúl" |

Hm... I did hear Mairtín Tom Sheáinín use it a couple of days ago on the radio- if I get time I'll try to get the context since I don't remember what he was talking about at the time! I have heard it pronounced as 'ag dial-áil' (as in dial-rhyming with mile) and as 'ag dayl-áil' I think the latter is the Conamara way to say it, and the former is more so south dialect. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

Scríobhann de Bhaldraithe sa "bhFoirisiún Focal as Gaillimh": 1) siopa déileála = siopa mionreice; 2) roinnt áirithe (e.g. fuair mé déileáil acub = roinnt acub). Ina cheann sin, tá an chiall ann a mhínigh Abigail thuas, agus is dóigh nach loigheann an focal sin go deas nádúrthach le aon chomhthéacs eile. 'Na trí rud is deacra a thoghadh – bean, speal agus rásúr'

Okay so what is 'siopa mionreice' and what does 'fuair mé roinnt acub?' mean? |

FGB: mionreic f. ... petty dealing, small retailing (of goods) Fuair mé roinnt acub - I have found some of them 'Na trí rud is deacra a thoghadh – bean, speal agus rásúr'

Oh! I'd never heard 'déileáil' in the context of meaning 'some' so I didn't make the connection. That's odd. But doesn't it also suggest that 'déileáil' isn't necessarily a negative thing.. |

Ag caint faoi mhodúl a rinne tú sa choláiste d'fhéadfá a rá gurbh é an t-ábhar a bhí á phlé ann [ná] ............ nó gurbh é an t-ábhar a bhí idir chamáin agaibh [ná] ................ nó go ndearna sibh staidéar ar a leithéid seo d'ábhar ............... go ndearna sibh é a chíoradh srl Focal an-choitianta is ea "ag déaláil / deighleáil le" srl. Bheadh sé go deas é a sheachaint. |
