I am using Rosetta Stone Gaeilge and overall I think its a pretty good software but sometimes it makes me laugh especially if thing phrases are taken out of context.

I just stumbled upon a picture of a kangaroo with the caption "Is as an Astráil an t-ainmhí seo. Ní labhraíonn sé Béarla."

Sometimes the picture with Irish caption doesn't really help though. It happened that in the same lesson i was learning the word for "green" which was a picture of grass with the caption "glas" and at the same time also learned the word for grass. It was just bad timing trying to determine the difference between two pictures of grass deciding which one was "glas" and which one was "féar".

Does anyone else here use Rosetta Stone? I want to know what other people think about it

I do, and I love it. I won't bore everybody with my general comments as I've put them up here at least three or four times.

Suffice it to say, I wish I had this 12 years ago when I was just starting out. It's a godsend!

I am just about through the first two levels; and really enjoying it. I am taking notes to help remember vocabulary and grammer...it's expensive, but I really like the 'total immersion at your leisure' and hope it'll give me a better head start than I had with my first attempts at learning 20 years ago- the once-a-week class was not enough exposure for me.

Now, if anyone also has the RTÉ Des Bishop "In The Name of the Fada" DVD; in episode one or two he is in a shop trying out his Irish, and I swear the shopkeeper has the exact same voice as one of the Rosetta Stone speakers...the shop is in Connemara and the Rosetta Stone is using Munster dialect, but my ears tell me that is the man...
