Dear Speakers of this ancient language,

i am desperately searching for help.

I am looking for the Words the Speakers of Old and/or middle Irish could have used for the following trees.

Apple
Gorse and
blackthorn

I am also looking for the possible meanings of the words
straiph
ngetal and
queirt

Which came across my way while looking after the ogham...And its possible origins.

Thanks

Apple = Uball (mod. Ubhall)
Gorse = Aittenn (mod. Aiteann)
Blackthorn = Draigen/Droigen (mod. Draighean)

Straiph (also Straif or Straith) = Sloe bush and the Ogham letter "sd" or "st".
Ngetal (also Ngiatal or Ngútal) = Reed or rush and the Ogham letter "ng".
Queirt (also Ceirt) = Apple tree and the Ogham letter "q".
