i have been searching all over the internet to find the irish gaelic translation of the motto on my family crest, which is..."the praise of action is virtue."

i have yet to find any helpful information, if anybody knows i would greatly appreciate a reply. thank you!

I'm not even sure what that means in English, much less how to translate it. Could this be a paraphrase of a Latin original?

Also, Rosson is not an Irish name, so a paraphrase rather than an original motto is the best we are going to get.

these are much more likely translations - as far as I remember my Latin of the 1950s, "actio" is nominative, so couldn't be "of action" ... the only genitive is "virtutis"

my dictionary gives "virtus" also = power, worth, courage, virtue, excellence ....

I think a lot of these "family crest" companies come up with purest dross! We have one (treasured because one of the kids bought it!) which says the Normans invaded Ireland in 1066! sloppy!
