a very easy way to write accented vowel: download AllChars. it's free. no need to remember numerical codes. by pushing ctrl you connect to the software. then, everytime you need a fada, push ctrl (don't hold it), then the acute accent (= apostrophe), then the vowel. simple and fast but, more important, free of charge. |

In my experience, the easiest option is the 'Alt Gr' key (to the immediate right of the spacebar on many keyboards in Ireland and the UK) + the vowel Alt Gr + aeiou = áéíóú Alt Gr + left Shift + aeiou = ÁÉÍÓÚ This may be trickier for users based in North America. alt gr + vowel doesn't work on my keyboards. on the italian keyboard I can get acute accents: ctrl (kept pushed) + ' (release) + vowel; on the korean keyboard, in the international position I do not have italian accented vowels and cannot get them either with alt gr or the other way, but with AllChars only. it was just a curiosity anyway. nuair a scríobhaim i nGaeilge, déanaim go furasta ar an méarchlár iodálach é, go cinnte. |
