...so I talked to Julie and Eamon after the show and welcomed them to Vancouver and to Canada (since Vancouver was their only stop in Canada) last night after the show. Sadly, I don't have much in the way of Gaidhlig, but Julie was kind enough to indulge me and my 'Gaeilge bhriste'.

It was quite cool. I've never spoken Irish with a fluent speaker before, so talking to Eamon (and Julie, even though she speaks Gaidhlig) was pretty sweet.

Yes. Eamonn Doorley is married to Julie Fowlis and tours with her. Occasionally Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh will tour with the Julie Fowlis band as well - they're all good friends, of course.

Yeah i met him a few times when he was in Danu and played at the IRish festival here in DAllas. His brother played the bouzouki (sp?) in DAnu also. I'd heard he was living in Canada now and married there. A nice fella so he is. Some of the ohter lads in Danu came from the Wexford/Waterford? gaeltacht and it was great to hear them speak an Gaeilge... By coincidence the guitar player in the band at that time (Last name was Ryan) was from Tipperary and by chance I discovered I knew his uncle who was a patron at a pub I worked in back home in Portlaoise, Co Laois.
small world eh?
slán.
Niall

p.s. I bet Eamonn wouldn't remember me by name but if he saw me he'd know me sorta thing.
