An bhfuil "ag feachaint chun tosaigh" ceart nó mícheart?

Níl.

"Ag súil le"

"Ag dréim le"

an nath atá uait.

Is féidir "go mór" a chuir leis chun é a threisiú

"ag súil go mór le"

Ceapaim go bhfuil an dara ceann ceart chomh maith ar aon nós - "ag feitheamh go crua le".

Ach, grma :)

Cúpla ceann eile:
ag tnúth leis an lá -- yearning for the day
Is fada liom go dtaga an lá -- I consider it long until the day comes (for holidays etc)i.e. I'm looking forward to the day ...
Nára fada uainn é! May it not be long from us.

Ní Gaeilg ar bith é más é 'n cor cainte "looking forward to" atá i gceist agad.
Thuigfinn "ag féachaint chun tosaigh" mar "to look at what stands in front of you"...

Ní féidir na cora cainte Béarla a dh'aistriú focal ar fhocal i nGaeilg.
Leis sin a thuigbheáil, déan a mhalairt :

ar chóir "John is given on him" a ráidht, le "he is called John" a ráidht ? (ón Ghaeilg "John a thugtar air").

I'm looking forward to it = Tá mé ag súil leis (sin an abairt is coiteanta leis sin a ráidht).

Focal eile le cuir sa mheascán: cíocras

cíocras [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
ampla, saint, airc, chun ruda.

Tá cíocras orm chun X

Tá "flosc" ann chomh maith.

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

Samhlaím gníomh seachas mothúchan le flosc.

Ach feicim nach bhfuil an scéal chomh simplí sin:

díocas [ainmfhocal firinscneach den chéad díochlaonadh]
fonn mór, flosc, cíocras.

Measaim gur fíor dhuit: bheadh flosc orm chun gnímh eicínt - flosc chun ceoil, flosc chun bia, flosc chun troda - ach ní déarfainn go raibh flosc orm chun deiridh seachtaine, ná chun duine áirithe a fheiceáil arís.

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!
