I heard that the genitive is not used in sentances like this: "Táím ag dul chun mo thí", but rather is suspended. Is this so? |

Well, I would have said "táim a' dul abhaile"... But normally, you'd have the genitive in such sentences. Tá sé a' dul chu(i)n na cathrach... Learn Irish pronunciation here: http://loig.cheveau.ifrance.com/irish/irishsounds/irishsounds.html & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/

I thought so, but they were talking on IGTF a few days ago about chun not requiring the genitive when used in the sense of movement towards, and that was the first time I heard of it |

Are you sure that was what they were saying? I haven't seen the discussion, but it seems odd, as the actual situation is very nearly the opposite. "Chun" used directionally does take the genitive; "chun" meaning "in order to" does not. e.g. Rachaidh sé chun a hoifige chun labhairt léi.
