Would this sentence be correct:

Cé leis an teach? ----> Who owns the house?

Cé leis é? ----> Who owns it?

I'm figuring that must be right. I just want to be sure.

Go raibh maith agat, a Shéamus.

Also while I'm at it, I would have one last thing to ask concerning ''leis'' and the copula. An bhfuil siad sin ceart:

Sin í an leabhar is leis----> That is the book that he owns.

Feicim an fear ar leis an madadh----> I see the man who owns the dog.

Sin é an leabhar gur leis.
Feicim an fear gur leis an mhadra.

For the technicalities of grammar Im useless. Had a thesis "as gaeilge" corrected by a professor once who had more comments in RED than the thesis itself!

Sin é an leabhar arbh leis é [pronoun required]

More simply:

Sin é a leabhair!

Tá an ceart agat ansin a Aonghais. Tá "sin é a leabhar" i bhfad níos símplí. Mo bhrón ach tá an-chuid Gaeilge dearmadta agam de dheascadh easpa cleachtadh. Nílím ró-chinnte faoin "arbh" ar ndóigh. An é sin an aimsir chaite?
Would that translate as "That was his book"?

Botún atá ann, sa chás seo!

"ar" ba cheart a bheith ann, ó tharla nach bhfuil guta nó f i gceist.

Sin é an leabhar ar leis é
