Hi I'm reading about Fiche Blian ag fás. Would someone be able to help me with this passage. I don't seem to understand it.. Go raibh maith agat. "Is úrscéal a bheatha idir lámha aige. Dá chomharthasan ní leasc leis comhráite beomhar a cheapadh, mion-eachtraí a mhéadú ró-mhór, imeachtaí staire a fháisceadh as a riocht agus ar ndóigh, a chuid léargais féin a chur chun tosaigh i gcónaí" |

Cruthaíonn Muiris pictiúr le sonraí beaga láidre in ionad cur síos teibí casta. A fhianaise san ná a chur síos ar an tigh agus ar scoraíocht. |

Is úrscéal a bheatha idir lámha aige. It's the novel of his life that he is engaged in. / What he is doing is turning his life into a novel. Dá chomhartha san ní leasc leis comhráite beomhar a cheapadh, For instance he does not hesitate to make up lively conversations, mion-eachtraí a mhéadú ró-mhór, to over-enlarge minor events imeachtaí staire a fháisceadh as a riocht to twist historical events out of shape agus ar ndóigh, a chuid léargais féin a chur chun tosaigh i gcónaí. and of course, to put his own vision forward at all times. / to always present things as he perceives them. "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

Muiris creates pictures with strong, small details instead of long, abstract descriptions. Eveidence for this is given by the description of the house and of entertainments. |

Mar an gcéanna don údar agus é ag tagairt go sonraíoch. Is gnáth leis nithe a chur i liostaí len iad a aithint agus a ainmniú.... Mar is gnáth le daoine óga- sa chás seo, Muiris agus a chomhbhádóir dílis Tomás- géileann siad minic go leor do dhiabhlaíocht agus d'fhiosracht docheansaithe na hóige... Would anyone be so kind as to help me translate these two sentences? Thanks |

Ok thanks 1. It's the same for the author referencing ? It's usual.. 2. As is usual for young people like Maurice and Tomas to enjoy their youth.? Not really sure? |

agus é ag tagairt go sonraíoch | when he is referring in detail | Is gnáth leis nithe a chur i liostaí len iad a aithint agus a ainmniú.... | his practice is to list things to recognise and name them | géileann siad minic go leor do dhiabhlaíocht agus d'fhiosracht docheansaithe na hóige... | they yield often enough to the devilment[*] and unstoppable curiosity of the young | devilment is more in the sense of harmless mischief than anything else |

. Léirigh do chuid litreacha le tagairtí agus samplaí oiriúnacha ón leabhar féin. Describe your letters with suitable references from the book? |

Bhí tú = you were Léirigh in this case means Illustrate. léiriú [ainm briathartha][ainmfhocal firinscneach] a dhéanamh léir, míniú; cur in ord, socrú (do chuid oibre a léiriú); críochnú (béile a léiriú); cur i láthair nó ar stáitse (dráma a léiriú). |

Toisc gurb é scríobhneoireacht Corca Duibhne atá i gceist sa comhrá, chuirfidh mé ceist oraibh fén tOileanách. Cad is brí lena h-abairtí seo i leanas: "B'eo liom amach"/"B'eo le chuid de na cailíní" "B'in" "Ba dhóbhair go mbáfadh an chailleach é d'iarraidh í a thabhairt chun cinn" grma Orddan ocus tocad duit!

Tuigim na habairtí, ach ní féidir liom iad a bhriseadh síos duit. B'eo liom amach - Off I went B'eo le chuid de na cailíní - Off went some of the girls B'in = ba + sin The old woman almost drowned him in his attempt to bring her ahead. (A mhac san uisce ag iarraidh bean a tharrtháil, an ea?) |
