cumhacht an lae inniu = the power of today cumhacht an ama i láthair = the power of the present time ... cibé is ciall leis an abair i mBéarla! (... whatever the English sentence means!) You can talk about "the now" in English, but "anois" (= now) is simply never a noun in Irish, so an exact (or is that an evocatively fuzzy?) translation is not possible. "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

I presume the context would be something like: -Man we should really do something about all the graffiti on the wall. -Like what? -I don't know, let's go down and stake the place out to see who's doing it. -Ahhh some other time. -No, use the power of now! That's the best I can do in fifteen seconds. Anyway, my own translation would be "Cumhacht na hUaire Anois!" |
