A chairde, Though this does not pertain to an Gaeilge I'd appreciate it if you'd take a bit of time to watch my singing videos on youtube. All the songs are either Irishy or something of a similar enough nature to be chunked loosely in the category, at least for the general viewing public. You guys are not the general viewing public however, you're a lot cleverer. :) I don't have any i nGaeilge up yet but in my next set I intend to try The Two Coneelies which has a verse in Irish, hoping I do it well when the time comes 'round. Comments are appreciated as long as they are constructive and not of a prankish nature. Go raibh maith agaibh agus beir bua agus beannacht. Oh, silly me I forgot to tell you where to look. My username is RionaEire, cliche and dopy I know but whenever I try to just use Riona on websites it is usually taken, I knew this wouldn't be taken so I used it. Just go to youtube.com and search my username, there are five videos. Go raibh maith agaibh aris. |

Just had a listen to your youtube clips, Ríona. Very good work. You have a lovely clear tone singing voice. If I was to be the Simon Cowell of the panel, my advice would be to be careful of imitating accents.. Go n-éirí leat a chara |

The immitation of accents "" is how I exist, so I can't tell you it will go away. Does not a country singer put on a southern accent regardless of whether he is from the south, and a hiphop singer put on a da'hood accent regardless of whether he is from da'hood? Oh well. I appreciate that you liked it, anyone else? Thanks for watching a chara. Beir bua agus beannacht |

Nicely sung, a Ríona. The tune of Scarburough Fair is the same as the Scottish song 'Greas ort dhachaigh a dh'Eilean a' Fhraoich', sung by Christine Primrose. I don't know which song has given its melody to the other :-) Learn Irish pronunciation here: www.phouka.com/gaelic/sounds/sounds.htm & http://fsii.gaeilge.org/

If you do sing the Two Coneelys I will probably shed tears. The first time I heard that was on Inis Mor and it absolutely gave me goose bumps. Looking forward to hearing it!! Is minic a bhris beál duine a shrón. Fáilte roimh cheartú, go deo.

A Lughaidh a chara, that's neat, I'd like to hear that. A James a chara, the two Coneelies made me cry too. We've probably seen the same version from Ragus, myself only on the video because when I went to Inis Mor they were touring. :( Thanks for watching Beir bua agus beannacht |

An mhaith a Ríona! You have a very beautiful voice and you sure know how to use it, especially with the aptly added inflections to the basic melody - I don't think you need to change anything and I look forward to hearing more. Do you have any sean-nos songs in your repertoire and if not, do you plan on any soon? I have an Irish-related website (which I won't shamelessly plug here), where I was thinking of having a song sung in the background while people visit the website. Would you be interested in recording one? Mac Léinn, aka Student. |

A Mhic Leinn, are you by any chance our man Mac Leinn of old? Or is it just a coincidence? That would be grand fun recording a song for you, I fear that I don't have enough confidence to sing Sean Nos at present, don't know any by heart though I very much like it and I have a CD with some though the words aren't written, if I do a Sean Nos song and for any songs i nGaeilge, I need the audio and the writing to compare and understand just how it all must be. After I record the Coneelies then you can decide if you really want me singing Sean Nos on your website :). I really appreciate your enthusiasm, some people I've shown it to have not liked it at all, I think its just an issue of taste perhaps. Beir bua agus beannacht |

'Sea. Ba mise Mac Leinn, ach is mise Student anois. Pretty tricky, no? . So Riona, if you do plan on recording something as Gaeilge, I would sure like to hear it. I think that the quality of your voice coupled with a beautiful melody (in Irish of course) would be a very nice thing. Pay no attention to the detractors - they'll always be around, so just get used to them. Le meas, Student |

Cé chomh fada agus a bhí tú anseo, a Mic Léinn? Tá súil agam go bhfuil tú ar fheabhas. Céard atá ar siúl agat na laethanta seo? "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

Go raibh maith agat a Dennis agus a Aonghuis. Tá mé go hiontach agus tá mé ag obair mar as gnach. Le déanaí, chuaigh mé go Seattle dhá uair, ach ní raibh aran dunn agam. (Scríobh tú faoi aran dunn i Seattle aon uair amháinn, nárbh ea?) Tá dhá comhleacal agam (ag obair) go bhfhuil Hiondúis acú. D'astrigh siad céard scríobh tú i Hiondúis, ach chonaic mé go scríobh tú i Gaeilge freisin agus thuig mé go leor. FRC- GRMA (Message edited by student on August 11, 2008) |

Is mhór an mheabhraíocht é sin. B'fhéidir, tá mé ag dul ansin an mhí seo chugann. Nuair a bhí mé ansin leis mo dheirfiúr, (tá sí ina cónaí ansin) chuaigh muid ag teach tábhairne Gaelach; bhí sé go an-deas. Cuirfidh mé teachtaireacht chugat nuair atá fhios agam nios (is?) fearr - agus is feidir leat an áit a thogadh. FRC-GRMA (Message edited by student on August 11, 2008) |

A Mhic Leinn a chara, Ta athas orm go bhfuil tu anseo aris! I missed you. I'll be sure to let you know when I put the Coneelies up on youtube and then you can decide whether you would want my singing on your website. :) I'm pretty good at figuring out who is looking new but is really an old visitor, I've always been good at it so far. Go raibh maith agat. Beir bua agus beannacht |
