Predictive Texting in Irish- Finally! The technology company Samsunng is to launch an Irish language mobile phone. The phone which will be known as the Tocco, and will have full predictive texting in Irish as one of the features of the new handset. According to the Country Manager for Ireland, Gary Twohig Irish will be the working language of the phone and there will be a large dictionary for predictive texting in Irish. The phone will be launched on the market on July 2nd and will have some great features, amongst which there will be a camera with the latest technology and touch screen. 'There's been a definite increase in popularity in Irish, said Twohig. he last census showed 40 per cent of people described themselves as being Irish speakers. Gaelscoileanna are increasing in number all the time. Even non-Irish figures, like comedian Des Bishop, are learning it." Twohig said that the percentage of those who describe themselves as Irish speakers rises rapidly in younger age categories, which is a key market for Samsunng. |

Ehhhh Jackpot! Faoi dheireadh! Beidh orm ceann a cheannach :) A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river

Ní bhainimse feidhm as T9, malartaím teanga ró mhinic. Ach de réir mo thuiscint, tá gach rud eile le bheaith ar fáil as gaeilge freisin. Tá sin suimiúl dom... |

Tá mé féin mar an gcéanna a Aonghuis ach is iontach go bhfuil an chuid eile den fhón i nGaeilge. Samhlaigh áfach má cheannaíonn na Gaeil uilig an Tocco - beidh guthán gach duine ar fad mar an gcéanna, casta go leor agus tú amuigh i bpub srl! |

Tá an fhadhb chéanna agamsa. Scríobhaimse teachtaireachtaí téacs go mion minic, ach úsáidim trí theanga éagsúla agus cuireann sé sin bac orm leas a bhaint as tuarthéacs. Níl fón ar an mhargadh a mbeadh mo rogha féin teangacha ar fáil air, agus fiú dá mbeadh, bíonn an iomarca cnaipí le brú chun teanga an tuarthéacs a athrú, rud a chuireann frustrachas ort má bhíonn ort é a dhéanamh go minic. Chuir mé focal ar aghaidh chuig cúpla Gaeilgeoir de mo chuid. Níor chuala duine acu trácht ar an rud. Súil agam go ndéanfar fógraíocht ar an rud..
