Hey guys, think of the genitive as this:

a new way to say things when you lack the noun for it.

side of the road (soft shoulder)
side of the clock (???)

kitten (son of the cat)
bull (male of the cow)

Perhaps in technical development of a field one moves from such constructions to simple nouns. Just a thought...

side of the road (soft shoulder)

Deirtear "taobh an bhóthair" sách minic: Fuair mé ar thaobh an bhóthair é.

side of the clock (???) Go deimhin! Cad is ciall leis sin?

kitten (son of the cat) Is féidir "mac an chait" a rá, cinnte, ach tá blas na filíochta air, dar liomsa.

bull (male of the cow) "fireann na bó" ??? An-aisteach! Déarfaí "céile na ba" le leanbh beag, I suppose.

an seanchas is fearr."

quote:

"céile na ba"

Recte: "céile na mbó" nó "céile na bó"; an dara ceann mura bhfuiltear sásta polygamy a mhíniú don little tyke

Fealsamh, an ea? Is cuma faoin "side of the road". Mínigh "top of the morning" dúinn!

Táid ann a deir gurbh as "Mór agat ar maidin" a tháinig.

Dhá rogha ansin agat; tionchar an Bhéarla (Good Morrow) nó an bandia úd a raibh aras i gCorca Dhuibhne aici.
