Does anyone know of a gaeltacht for adults in Connamara for non beginners? If not in Connamara, maybe kerry or Clare? I've been searching for quite a while now and can only find one in Donegal, which is a different dialect to that which I'm used of. Kind Thanks

quote:

a gaeltacht for adults

Cosúil le Tonto Verde in Arizona, mar shampla? Ní mór d'úinéir amháin a bheith daichead bliain d'aois nó níos sine, agus níl páistí ceadaithe ar chor ar bith?

Honey, a "Gaeltacht" is not a language school. Try this:

"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."

The Gaeltacht is for everyone. It is not specifically for adults. There is no sign at the edge of the Galway Gaeltacht saying "this is an adults only Gaeltacht". And there are no Gaeltachtaí specifically for non-beginners. Or should I say the Gaeltachtaí are specifically for native speakers rather than non-beginners. I am not sure what you are trying to say...

If you're looking for language courses, you might check with Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge:
http://www.acadamh.oegaillimh.ie/
I know they run 5-week programs in the summer, for which university credit is available. I don't know if you have to be a university student to enroll in these, or if they're open to the public.

Or if you just want to visit the Gaeltacht, roam around on your own and hear/speak some Irish "in the wild", that's an option too. I did that earlier this month and had a lovely time.
This site maintains a list of B&Bs, guesthouses, etc. where Irish is spoken:

Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!
