Dia Dhuit,

I am a new student. I am currently using transparent language and taking classes on Sunday from the gaelicleaque in my city using the textbook "progress in Irish". I am currently working I shall , you shall, etc. I do not use that in everyday conversation. I can say hello, goodbye, how are you, where you from,I am hungry, I would like etc. but I am looking for some handouts or a book that assist with sentences and phrases I would use in everyday conversations. Does anyone have any suggestions.

go raibh maith agat

Slán go fóill,

As a start why not have a look at the phrases on this website

Go to http://www.daltai.com/home.htm and hit "phrases"

For that kind of stuff I recommend two things to accompany what you are already doing

1) Pimsleur Irish - eight (now ten, if you get the new version) 1/2 hr audio lessons in Munster Irish. The way they get you to remember it is fantastic if you follow the directions. No grammar is taught and there is no written component, although you can find transcripts of lessons 1-8 online.

2) Buntús Cainte - 3vol book and cds available singly or as a set. Focuses entirely on a wide range of conversational things and teaches you how to create your own sentences from the vocab given. No grammar is taught.

I highly recommend both for getting you talking in everyday situations.
