Yeah I have that and I have to say I am very pleased with it, speakers from Munster, Connacht, and Ulster. I learn something new every day from it! Its really for intermediate to on the road advanced learners. Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.

Lughaidh is not too happy with it -apparently it mixes learners and natives with impunity le díol

Yeah he said that it lacks Gaeltacht speakers, but there is a few though like for example the first girl who is from Connemara and describes the sea, and the one of the most beautiful golf courses situated in Conamara and Liam he is a Gaeltacht speaker from Donegal (I'm friends with him!) I still reccomened it though, it will get you to a higher step of getting more competent in speaking Irish. Does anyone know about Turas Teanga, is it any good? Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.

Turas Teanga is good if you already speak some Irish. My only fault with the dvds is that you can't put Gaeilge subtitles to go with the Gaeilge speech. I would like to build more of a correlation in my head between the Irish I'be been studying in books all these years and what it actually sounds like. English subtitles are pointless as your brain will just lapse into reading the english and tune out the Irish. |

What type of learner does it target for? Beginnes, Adcanced, Intermediate, no Irish at all? Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.

Intermediate probably. Hard to say really. What would you consider an intermediate as opposed to an advanced learner? Tá fáilte roimh chuile cheartú!

I have a copy and am already using it in my intermediate class, as we're fortunate to have a TV & DVD player there. It's a bit beyond what most beginners could use, but folks with a year or more of studies are probably ready for this. "Speaking Irish: An Theanga Bheo" addresses one of the important needs that learners outside of Ireland have -- that is, to develop an "ear" for Irish as spoken by people other than their teacher and/or fellow students. Short of sending folks to a Gaeltacht or immersion event, this is the next best thing. I don't think that "Gaeltacht speakers" are the focus here -- it's to understand the widest possible range of accents/dialects, even those with less-than-perfect Irish ( and even the native speakers on the DVDs aren't perfect!). This DVD & book will help get the learner out of the unavoidably "closed" environment of the sounds/pronunciations in their classrooms and beginning to understand the wider world of Irish speakers. By the bye . . . the best price in North America, as far as I know, is on Amazon.com. http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

There's just one catch, a Dhomhnaill: is féidir leat a lán Gaeilge a fhoghlaim i do chodladh, ceart go leor. Ach ní féidir leat í a úsáid i do dhúiseacht! "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

quote:Speaking Irish / An Ghaeilge Bheo Tá mé díreach tar éis an pacáiste seo a ordú ó ChIC. Is dóigh liom go bhfuil sé tábhachtach chuile shórt Gaeilge a chloisteáil agus a thuiscint. Tá súil agam gur fiú an t-airgead é! Ach má tá Aonghus agus Cionadh sásta leis, is dócha gur fiú. "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

Tarraingíonn Antaine anuas ceist mhaith faoin easpa fotheideal Gaeilge ar DVDs de chineál seo. Aontaim go hiomlán .. Tá sé riachtanach dar liom gur féidir é rogha teanga a bheith ann, go háirithe mar tá na cúrsaí seo dírithe ar dhaoine a bhfuil meánleibhéal Gaeilge acu |
