Hi

I'm looking for books about Corca Dhuibhne (West Kerry) dialect, especially about pronunciation and grammar.

Especially I'd like to know if 'Gaeilge Chorca Dhuibhne', by D. Ó Sé in 2000 is still available somewhere (it isn't on Abebooks nor Amazon nor Litriocht), and if someone of yous has got a copy of it, what is to be found in it.

Go reibh math aguibh !

Lughaidh a chara, there is a nice lady called Caitlín she is very good on getting a hand on Irish books that you want, I will contact her and see if she could get it.

Yup, Trigger's right - Caitlín from Litríocht can find almost anything for ya.

I don't know if this is the same book you're seeking, but we have a couple of copies of Diarmuid Ó Sé's "An Teanga Bheo: Corca Dhuibhne" (copyright 1995) in stock. It's an 87-page softcover book, much like the other books in the "An Teanga Bheo" series. Here are the subjects covered:
1. Pointí Fuaimnithe
2. An tAinmfhocal
3. An Aidiacht
4. An Forainm
5. An Mhír Shealbhach
6. An Réamhfhocal
7. a hUimhreacha
8. An Briathar
9. An Chopail
10. An Stór Focal

These smaller books are not as comprehensive as the "Irish of _X_" type books published in earlier decades. If there was a comprehensive book on Corca Dhuibhne Irish published in 2000, I must've missed it.

Le meas,
Cionaodh

I have the 'An Teanga Bheo' about Corca Dhuibhne, but I was talking about a bigger book by the same author.

I didn't know Caitlín. Thanks in advance, Trigger :-)

Are there some online resources where I could hear native Corca Dhuibhne speakers, with a transcription of what they say? I'd like to know the Corca Dhuibhne pronunciation of as many words as possible...

Try emailing him:

Diarmuid Ó Sé
Tel: (+353 1) 716 8199

Don't know if the email is current. I think he has moved dept to too. If that does not work, I'll ask a friend of mine who works there to get this current email.
