My impulse buy for this afternoon was a bottle of Irish Mist. I had heard of it but somehow never managed to try it, so I picked up a bottle. Good Lord, this stuff is vile! At least it is straight up, neat. What's the best way to use this? |

I was thinking "weed killer," but I bet it would be good for that too. |

Is féidir go mbeadh sé inite i milseán. Bain triail as "Irish Mist" agus "dessert" le Google. Ceannaigh Bushmills an chéad turas eile! "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

I did eyeball the Bushmills, my dear man... plainly I should've gone with the tried-and-true instead of this swill. Oof! I'm thinking I'll use it to make Gram Kelly's Whisky Cake. It calls for a shocking amount of whisky and I think this will substitute nicely, plus will masque the horrid taste. |

I'm a fan of either Tullymore Dew or Redbreast. I only drink mine neat, so I like to go for the 12yo stuff. Redbreast supposedly just became available outside of Ireland in the past year or so. The really old Jamisons can be good, too, but it's a bit overplayed here in the States. |

Irish Mist is not a whiskey like Bushmills and Jameson. It is a liquuer or cordial and is whiskey mixed with honey and herbs. It has been made for about about 1000 years so apart from the above conniseurs, some people must like it. Try it on the rocks or in your tea or coffee on a cold day. It's more like Drambuie than Jameson |

Redbreast supposedly just became available outside of Ireland in the past year or so. Longer than that, at least in Chicago. Is cuimhin liom gur cheannaíos buidéal do chara liom ar a 40ú breithlá, a tháinig dhá bhliain ó shin ar a laghad. |

Is féidir feabhas a chur ar Drambuie ach é a mheascadh le fuisce (Scotch, ar ndóigh) agus cúpla ciúb oighir a chur ann. Is féidir an rud ceannann céanna a dhéanamh le hIrish Mist. "Rusty Nail" an t-ainm atá ar an deoch a dhéantar le Drambuie, más buan mo chuimhne. An bhfuil ainm ar bith ar a leathbhreac Éireannach? "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

Leac oighir i fuisce? Sin beagnach chomh holc le huachta a chuir tríd agus é dhíol le heachtrannaigh.... Ní maith liomsa dram ar bith ach an dram glan glé, pé acu Albanach nó Éireannach. |

Ní hea. Aoileach is ea "Mist" sa Ghearmáinís. Agus droch rud i gcoitinne. Níor dhíol Irish Mist ró mhaith thall. |

Díoltar an diabhal deoch sin toisc go bhfuil an obair bhaile margaíochta déanta acu! I know i generalise but..... Muintir na SA... Deoch ó éirinn.. oh my gawsh man... An íomha b'fhéidir seanfhaiseanta, déarfadh roinnt daoine gur íomha cheilteach é.. Buidéal eile díolta.. Agus nach bhfuil an ceart agam a Dhomhnaill a chara!? Impulse buy a bhí ann duit féin agus tú thall sna Stáit!! A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river

Ceart go leor, i'll go again.. The only reason the drink sells is because they've done their marketing homework! I know i generalise but..... U.S. folk...drink from ireland.. oh my gawsh man... The perhaps old fashioned some might say celtic image.. And there's another bottle sold! And wasn't i right, you bought it in impulse due to it's image and your relationship with ireland!! A people without a language of its own is only half a nation.A nation should guard its language more than its territories, 'tis a surer barrier and a more important frontier than mountain or river

I suppose you have a point. I finally tried watering this stuff down and then it was drinkable, albeit a bit too sweet for my tastes. You know what it reminded me of? This: http://www.celticcrossingliqueur.com/ I literally laughed out loud the first time I saw a bottle of this. "Celebrating Irish Heritage." WITH CHEAP HOOCH!!! |
