I'm trying to translate these two sentences. I've worked out some of the vocabulary but just can't get enough of it to make sense.
Chaith me bliante in Eirinn, afach, agus is i gColaiste na hOllscoille Corcaigh ar rinne me mo chuid staidear ar an abhar iontach, an Stair.
Taim anseo chun failte Phadrig an chur romhaibh innui agus cursa stair an Domhain.

Roughly:
I spent a year in Ireland, however, in Cork University I did my studying on a great subject, the history.

"bliante" is probably "blianta" = years
I spent years in Ireland...
"an stair" = history (as a subject; don't translate the article)
"An seanchas gearr,
an seanchas is fearr."
