A Rachel a chara, If someone does give you a translation for this you must be forewarned that it won't be all rhyming and ringing since it was probably originally written in English and thus a translation won't fit within the confines of the metor. If noone helps you here you ought to go to irishgaelictranslator.com where I suspect you might get more attention for this kind of translation request. Beir bua agus beannacht |

Go dtuga Dia dhuit saol sona is saol fada, Mar tuigeann Sé corranna an t-saoil: Tá ganntannas aingeal ar thalamh, 'Gus na Flaithis ag cur thar maoil. |

Hi Unregistered Guest, Is maith liom go mór an Ghaeilge a chuir tú ar an rann sin. Tá sé níos fearr i nGaeilge ná i mBéarla! "An seanchas gearr, an seanchas is fearr."

Hello again everyone, I must warn you that I dont speak a word of Irish so please pardong me. Is this the correct translation for my Irish Blessing, please I need someone to confirm this...thanks? Irish Go dtuga Dia dhuit saol sona is saol fada, Mar tuigeann Sé corranna an t-saoil: Tá ganntannas aingeal ar thalamh, 'Gus na Flaithis ag cur thar maoil. English MAY GOD GRANT YOU MANY YEARS TO LIVE FOR SURE HE MUST BE KNOWING THE EARTH HAS ANGELS ALL TOO FEW AND HEAVEN IS OVERFLOWING |

It's not a literal translation, but it's close. It says May God give you a happy and long life, For he understands life's twists: There's a lack of angels on earth, And heaven is overflowing. But I hope it sounds a little better than that in Irish. |

It's much better in the Irish version - the English sounds like a silly greeting card |
