Alright, of late we've had many posts and debates regarding how to get more people (particularly in Ireland) to undertake the learning of Gaeilge, as well as trying to put a face on why they aren't doing so in droves. But For those of us who have made the decision to learn it, I've come across something that might be helpful. Actually, I can't take full credit for it - my friend Dáithi Cohen (those of you who go to the weekends will know him)found this book in the bargain bin at Borders. Once he told me about it I got a copy for myself. It contains a method that seems (I'm half-way through the book) to be very effective. The author advocates a multi-pronged approach that is markedly different from the traditional kind of language taught in classrooms. Anyway, the title is How To Learn Any Language by Barry Farber (isbn 1-56731-543-7 and 978-1-56731-543-1) |
