I'm looking to get a tattoo.. which is obviously permanent and therefore I really need a good translation. I want to translate "To thine ownself be true" into Irish gaelic. I found this: Bí fíor duit féin and also this one: Bí dílis tú féin I wasn't sure which one was right, or if both were wrong. I would really appreciate the help! Thanks!! - Jessi |

The first is grammatically correct, but possibly awkward in meaning. The second uses the wrong pronoun. Bí dílis duit féin would be Be loyal to yourself which is what "To thine own self be true" actually means. |
