One of the great difficulties being an Irish speaker in Dublin is that one will not know whether people one meets are Irish speakers or not.

Of course, someone buying Lá Nua or Foinse, or taking out a book in irish in the Library is clearly an Irish speaker.

Doing the above means now that I speak Irish to two newsagents (neither of whom is a regular speaker).

And I now know that the Librarian in Bray is a fluent speaker.

Is aisteach an rud é a bheith ag breathnú ar leabhair Gaeilge i Hodges is Figgis i mBleá Cliath agus daoine eile ann leatsa. "mo leithscéal"... "gura míle", ach, seachas sin ní bhíonn mórán fonn ar dhaoine a bheith ag labhairt le daoine eile nach bhfuil aithne acu orthu, is cuma cén teanga.

Mar a scairteann tú isteach sa choill a bhíonn an macalla, mar a deir na Gearmáinigh.
