Can anyone give me detailed information on this?

VERBS THAT DON'T TAKE "DO" IN THE PAST

1. I know that "do" is pronounced "d'i" in "do bhí sé". But should the d be pronounced broad in other verbs? The examples of "do" before a past tense in the Irish of West Muskerry seem to indicate that only the verb (a)táim is affected in this way, but it does not state this clearly.

2. I am trying to work from a conservative Munster perspective what verbs do not take "do" in the preterite. I think this is correct. Can anyone confirm the following:

i) duart: I said. You can't say "do duart".
ii) duas: I ate. You can't say "do duas".
iii) rugas: I bore. You can't, or shouldn't at least, say "do rugas". This comes from an early copy of the Christian Brother's Grammmar where they say the initial r is from the perfective particle ro, and so the perfective particle is included in the verb already. And yet, An Teanga Bheo shows that Cork Gaeltacht speakers do say "do rugas" sometimes. I am trying to work out what is correct - what someone like Dinneen, or an educated pre-war Munsterman would have regarded as correct.
iv) thugas: I gave. The same early grammar book says that in early usage, this past tense did not take "do" or "ro", and so strictly it should not have "do" today. But it goes on to say that this is not always adhered to. Also most books give 2 forms: tugas and thugas. Can someone comment on what is correct (rather than just prevalent)?
v) fuaras/fuaireas: I got. The same early grammar book says that "do" and "ro" are not used with this. Maybe to avoid leniting away the f???

Do people agree that in conservative Munster usage it is wrong to use "do" with those 5 verbs?

i) ní rabhas: I was not.
ii) ní fh(e)aca: I did not see.
iii) ní dhearnag: I did not do.
iv) ní rugas: I did not bear.
v) ní dheaghas: I did not go.
vi) ní duart: I did not say
vii) ní bhfuaras/bhfuaireas: I did not get.

Does that list look correct to people? Thanks for any tips. I apologize for the Munster focus!
