A chairde,

I am a father of an 18-month old (with another on the way) and am looking for other parents with small kids in the NYC area who would be interested in forming an Irish language play group and/or conversation group for parents.

I'm an advanced-beginner(?) student of the language and would be willing to help absolute beginners get started with Irish. Native and advanced speakers would get free cookies and milk.

The location, form and frequency of the group(s) can be very flexible -- let's just do it.

Please pass the word.

Go raibh maith agaibh.

Joe Murphy

Áiméan, léiríonn sé an-dearcadh:

'The location, form and frequency of the group(s) can be very flexible -- let's just do it'

Níl ag teastáil anois ach buíon bheag eile in éineacht le Joe d'fhonn an iarracht seo a thabhairt i gcrích.

A great attitude Joe.

(Dia duit a Rómain is Dia daoibh a Chomhaltaí go léir)

A Sheosaimh a chara,

It might help if you give some little English clues in your e-mails to me. I'm going to sit down with FP this afternoon and try to figure it out but I'm not making any promises about how much of it I will understand. All I know at this point is that I think you said something about your sabatical and the rest is rather philosophical in nature.

Beir bua agus beannacht

A Sheosaimh,

'S é do bheatha, a chara! Do chreideas go bhfuilir caillte uainn. Do bhíomair i nÉirinn an samhradh so caite, i gCairbre, an tseachtain amháin i gCléire agus i mBaile na nGall. Do bhí an-spraoi againn le mnaoi an tí i gCléire. Nílim im líofasacht i gcomhnaí, ach tá an fheabhas uirthi ann. Beim a d'irraidh níos mó leis na cúrsaí Gaelainne a dhéanamh, táim diongbháilte fé sin. Níl's agam - b'fhéidir an scoil teangan ar son Liotuánaigh as seo amach, le cúnamh Dé. Agus tú féin? An bhfuil teach déanta agat? Thar n-ais i Luimneach ar an ollscoil, ná fuil?

le gach dea-ghuí

Gaelainn na Mumhan abú!

A Ríona, a chara, if it's philosophical, that's a good excuse to breeze over it. (I know you'll still check the Foclóir Póca all the same and pick up a few new words in context anyway! - a surreptious (más ceart nó contráilte an litriú) method of language learning!

A Rómain, a chara, bead i Vilnius idir 3.00i.n. Dé Céadaoin is 6.00 maidin Dé Sathairn seo chugainn. Bead gafa le hobair an chuid is mó den am ach ní féidir mé a choimeád ag obair istoíche, (d'ainneoin mo chruth anseo anocht, mo léan).
Féachfad do sheoladh ríomhphoist amárach le teacht ort.

Thanks for the links, everyone.
I'll check them out in the coming days. I'm off on a mini-holiday tomorrow for a few days.

BTW, we went to the Keltic Kids class for a term at the Irish Arts Center and it was a nice little class, but only a little Gaeilge. It's more of a general music and play class for babies and toddlers, with an Irish flavor. The other language class at the Center is only for older kids.

Go raibh mile maith agaibh.

Joe Murphy

Joe, a chara,

You might want to touch base with Elaine at the Irish
Arts Center and see if she has any suggestions.

Le meas, Paul
