I'll take a stab at it...but, I don't think the "word for word" will make much sense....
It is great, the charity payments of a poor person.
This probably corellates (sp?) to the Biblical parable of the poor woman tithing in the church where Jesus states that her 2 alms were more valuable than the gold given by the wealthy because her meager 2 alms were a greater sacrifice.
Now...wait for the fluent speaker...'cause I'm just taking a stab at it!!

"an díol something" means the cause of something.
i.e. "Is mór an díol trua James" means "James is worthy of pity" (for venturing onto thin ice and breaking through. But well done for trying, this is a tricky idiom)
"An duine" usually means a specific person.
Is mór an díol déirce an duine bocht.
Than poor fellow is very worthy of receiving charity. |
