can ayone reveal to me the difference between
faoi nollaig and timpeall na nollaig? does it cover
the same semantic field(it means around/about Christmas)?

could you give some examples if there's a different use for the two of these?

I think faoi Nollaig means on Christmas, and timpeall na Nollag means about Christmas. I'm not sure though.

There's also "um Nollaig" = at Christmas.

"timpeall + genitive" generally means "around":

timpeall na Nollag = around Christmas
timpeall an tí = around the house

I've a gut feeling that "timpeall na Nollaig" is bad Irish, based on a translation of "about christmas time" from English.

I think timpeall can be used either for spatial around or for vague approximations e.g. timpeall X bliain ó shin.

"Faoi Nollaig" I would interpret as during Christmastide.
