"When you were learning English, could you speak before you knew how to conjugate verbs? Of course you could. That same learning process is what Pimsleur replicates. Pimsleur presents the whole language as one integrated piece so you can succeed"

I love this spiel; it tricks you into believing that it has told you something, when in actual fact it is meaningless, an example been "That same learning process is what Pimsleur replicates" -what learning process? They never even mentioned one!

Has anyone ripped a copy so that one can hear what they are talking about?

Not that I'm trying to talk over your post, Finbarr. Well and good if it is good to use; I was just scratching my head about S &S's website and how it 'explains' itself. After all, they tell us the system is different and better, and then fail to elaborate.

The price is a bit steep, especially for someone like myself who already owns the cassette version and the 4-CD version.

If anyone doesn't already own it and is considering it, you might like to know that PayPal is currently running a promotion that will give you a $15 rebate on any purchase over $30 between 8 February & 31 March. More info here:

Whoever among us is the first to get the extra CD, I'd love to have him/her add to our online Pimsleur transcript:

It looks like they've included two booklets with this new version:

...a "User's Guide" and a "Reading Booklet". Maybe there's a transcript in the reading booklet?

$32.97 at Amazon.com. I'll probably just bug my local library to get it. Maybe I'll get it, as I do like the series.

Sounds cheap (for Ireland). Probably 80-120 Euro here. I once bought Michael Thomas (looks at back of box) 77.50 punt, about 125 dollars (French), but that was because I was going to work in France. The Plimseur tapes and CDs used to be in a shop in Dublin, and were a SAVAGE price. Mr Thomas is now 150 euro in one shop I saw. Insane

BRN,
If you can borrow one of these from your local library, and it doesn't have to be the Irish one, any will do, there is an extra CD that explains the method, four about 30 minutes. I certainly know it's on the Quick and Simple versions. The CD is the same no matter which language you pick up.
