Slightly inaccurate.

The housing rules apply only to housing estates of two or more houses, so the story of the people who inherited a site but couldn't build on it seems to be wrong.

"One Gaeltacht resident, a British citizen who bought her property before the new restrictions were announced, told a local newspaper that it was "akin to racism ... to refuse someone a place to live because they do not speak a certain language."

There is a library in Galway, in fact there is more than 1. IN those libraries there are both history books and dictionaries.

Should that lady take a stoll on down, she might learn about a) British laws that were similar, but applied to the whole island, only much more severe. The effect was akin to 'subsidising' English culture here for centuries. b) she might learn what hypocracy and arrogance mean. Rural England is foreigner-free. No blacks, no asians, no muslims. Nobody speaking foreign langauges. She should head for Spain or Greece where there are lots of little English enclaves where no-one has a word of the native tongue. Nicer weather to boot.

Besides this rule only applies to some houses, not all. People can learn a language it is not something that can't be changed about a person.

Níl ach ceist amháin shimplí taobh thiar den aighneas ar fad seo: cé acu is tábhachtaí, (1) cead a bheith ag gach aon duine lonnú cibé áit is mian leo, nó (2) an Ghaeilge a thabhairt slán?

Is cosúil nach féidir an dá rud a bhaint amach ag an am céanna, i gceantracha áilleachta go háirithe a mbíonn Béarlóirí rachmasacha ag triall orthu ina sluaite.

Más gá ceann a roghnú thar an cheann eile, is d'uimhir 1 atá mo vótasa ag dul.

Is mise,

Sílim fhéin go bhfuil sé thar am go mbeadh roinnt plandáil ar siúl in sna Gaeltachtaí, céard a dhéanfaidh mé gan mo thithe saoire nó dhó??? Bheadh sé orm carbhán a chíos ar feadh seachtain le linn an tsamhraidh!!!! níor chuala mé aon Ghaeilge labhartha sna Gaeltachtaí ariamh ar aon nós, mar sin ba cheart go mbeadh deireadh leis an chinedheighilt seo
Ba cheart go mbeadh cead ag gach aoinne teach a thógáil in aon áit ba mhaith leo, agus mé ag ceapadh go raibh muid ag maireachtáil i sochaí neo-liobrálach.

cé hiad an grúpa seo The Christian Science Monitor? is maith liom iad, Jesus agus Béarla go deo!!

Uimhir 2 a bhí uaim! Uimhir 2!!! Mo leithscéal as an tuaiplis!

Creidim nach ndéanann sé aon dochar cearta an daoine aonair a shrianadh de bheagán ar mhaithe le caomhnú teanga. Tar éis an tsaoil, déantar an rud céanna ar mhaithe le cúrsaí dúlra agus oidhreachta agus a leithéidí: níl cead agat teach a thógáil ar Chnoc na Teamhrach, mar shampla.

Is mise,

Ach má tá an airgid ceart, tig leat mótarbhéalach a thiomáint tríd!

Coimhlint idir cearta an aonair agus cearta pobal atá ann; tá mórán duine ann nach ngeilleann go bhfuil cearta pobal ann!

Mholainn daoibh an Caibidéal "The death of the Irish Language" a scríobh Richard B. Walsh san leabhar "Milestones in Irish History " le Liam de Paor ISBN : 1-85635-217.
Very interesting about the reasons behind the decline of our first tongue.
