Dia daoibh go léir, I know I’m new to the forum but I would be very grateful if somebody might be able to help me translate the following prayer of the faithful for my wedding ceremony in a few weeks’ time. Rinne mé iarracht í a dhéanamh mé féin ach táim cinnte go bhfuil go leor botúin ann.

We pray for peace and greater understanding between people in our country and in the world who are engaged in conflict and experiencing troubled times.
May the Lord bless our homes and neighbours with His peace and grant us all the protection of His love.

Guímis ar son na síochán agus tuiscint níos fearr idir muintir ár dtír féin agus ar domhain a bhfuil i dtreo choinbhleachta faoi arm agus aimsir mí-shuaimhneach
Go mbeannaí an Tiarna ár mbailí is ár gcomharsanna leis a shuíochán is go dtuga Sé cosaint a ghrá dúinn go léir.

A Thiarna éist linn/Lord hear us

C: A Thiarna bí ceansa is éist linn/Lord graciously hear us.

GO RAIBH MíLE MAITH AGAIBH!

Guímis ar son na síochána, agus do thuiscint níos fearr idir dhaoine inár dtír féin agus sa domhan atá i gcoimhlint nó ag dul tríd trioblóidí.

It reminds me of the old story about "I wouldn't start from here"... I'm still not entirely happy ith teh above, I think there is probably a better way of putting the sentiment.

The second part looks fine, but I'm doubtful about "bailí"

Maybe I'll think of something better later.

Go raibh míle maith agat a hAonghuis (?). I would certainly be very grateful if you or your friends on the forum could suggest any more improvements or corrections.

Ach mar a dúirt Aonghus:

Is fearr liomsa...

Guímis ar son na síochána, agus do thuiscint idir dhaoine inár dtír féin agus sa domhan atá i gcoimhlint nó i dtrioblóid.

.....ár mhuintir is ár gcomharsana ..

Níl aon gá le haistriucháin díreach a dhéanamh..

Chuirfinn féin mar seo é (murarbh aindiachaí mé, caithfidh mé a rá):

Guímis ar son na síochána agus go mbeidh tuiscint níos fearr idir daoine inár dtír féin agus sa domhan mór a bhfuil coimhlint nó trioblóidí eatarthu.
Go mbeannaí an Tiarna dár mbailte is comharsana lena shuíochán féin is go dtuga Sé cosaint a ghrá dúinn go léir.

An-deas mar aistriúchán, ach bhain an dearmad cló sin stangadh asam ar feadh meandair, agus scairt mé amach ag gáire. Aindiachas abú!
