Taobh istigh d'uair an chloig go leith ar an gclár plé seo:
quote:

I have no intention
I really enjoy
I'm just curious
I mean
I don't like
I won't be scared
From what I've noticed
ahead of me
in my opinion
Sounds [to me] like a great group
I'd have a grand time
I haven't ever posted
I figured out
in my view
I won't be run out
I'm listening to my mother
or am I just not paying enough attention

Ní thuigim thú a Dennis. I think It has been observed that all you've pointed out above is that Ríona is an active participant and she tends to write in the first-person. Is there something I'm one is missing?

It is apparent that we've been discussing topic control, but are you suggesting that we put in place a pronoun-control program? And if so, is the limit for "I" in English lower, equal, or larger, than the limit for in Irish? And if so so, do words like tuigim count towards the I-word limit since they inherently contain the pronoun I?

I've It has been heard of people crossing their "t's" and dotting all of their "i's", but I'm very there is curiosity of why you went to the extent of counting all the I's.

How could mise be the only person who says "I", know doubt someone else, at some distant time, has refered to themself in the first person. :) So why am I the "special" one today that you chose?

Tá áthas orm gur scríobh tú faoin sneachta agus faoi do mháthair i nGaeilge. Maidir leis an gcuid eile i mBéarla...

Is luaithe deoch ná sgéal,

ní hé an sgéal fada is fearr,
acht an sgéal gearr ar a mbí blas.

Go n-éiri an t-ádh leat, a Riona. Is maith liom ag scríobh i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla. Tá mo bhean chéile ag léamh an leabhar seo: Lake of Sorrows scríofa ag Erin Hart. Tá an dán seo ag leabhar ann:

(Good luck, Riona. I like writing in Irish and in English. My wife is reading this book: Lake of Sorrows written by Erin Hart. The book has this poem in it:)

I am the womb: of every holt,
I am the blasé of every hill,
I am the queen: of every hive,
I am the shield: for every head,
I am the grave: of every house.
- from the Song of Amheirgin, an ancient Irish poem

I don't know how accurate this is, but as Gaeilge

quote:

Am an ríáin gach uile choirceoige
Am an theine far gach uile chnoic
Am an scíath far gach uile chinn
Am an sleagh catha
Am nómá tonnag sírthintaghaív
Am úagh gach uile dhóich dhíamaíní

Ar an lámh eile:

Cé hé Joss Whedon?

An bhfuil an ceart aige? ;-)

I find that the pronoun is used (.i. é / í / iad) when you're talking about someone distant or someone you don't know. For instance, if you were talking about your brother: Is múinteoir Seán. But if you were talking about the Japanese President: Is iascaire é Uachtarán na Seapáine.

Ná húsáidigí focail Béarla agus sibh ag labhairt Gaeilge liom, le bhur dtoil. Ní thabharfaidh mé freagra do theachtaireacht ar bith a bhfuil "Gaeilge" neamhghlan inti.

Hmmm. Seo againn an dá leagan:

1) Is múinteoir Seán.
2) Is múinteoir é Seán.

Creidim go ndeirtear (2) go nádúrtha i gConamara, agus go ndeirtear (1) i dTír Chonaill (cé go mbeadh "Tá Seán ina mhúinteoir" níos coitianta ansin).

Leagan (1) a mholtar in Úrchúrsa Gaeilge agus in Graiméir Gaeilge na mBráithre Críostaí, gan aon tagairt do leagan (2). Mar shampla:

UG:

An sagart Séamas?
Nach oileán Éire?
Is dochtúir a athair.

GGnBC:

An eitleoir Tomás?
Nárbh iománaí deas Parthalán?

Is luaithe deoch ná sgéal,

ní hé an sgéal fada is fearr,
