An cuimhin libh "Robert" (ainm bréige) a bhíodh ar fud an chláir plé seo bliain nó dhó ó shin? Robert lena dhrochlitriú, i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge araon, a shuim i bhfoghraíocht na teanga, agus a ghreann borb? Cuireann BRN Robert i gcuimhe dom. Comhtharlú? |

Who is this Robert? I use posts by lots of people from the archives, so ideas by anyone can appear in my posts. If something by you or him gets in the mix, so be it. I went to Colraine for grammar books, but most of the available ones were on sound, so they get a higher weight in my reference library. Modern shops are all lightweight books –you end up like a fast-food junkie, loads of meals but little real information. Like other people here, I'm dying of lack of good books to go on. Please have more grammar, and I will gladly forget the sounds! |

A Dennis, Ba mhaith liom a aontaigh leat, but Robert had that truly, unique savoir faire when it came to mispelling words. I've always been interested in the concept of telling who someone is by the way the write. Analagously, I can often tell, without looking, who's entering my office by the way they walk. Some people shuffle, some people pound, and some people have a lil' skip they do. But anyway, Robert or no Robert, I find BRN's postings often very helpful in my pursuit of learning the Irish langue FRC-GRMA P.S. I know I got the "aontaigh leat" wrong above, but I'll figger it out later. |

Bíonn a lán ainmneacha bréige anseo, agus mar "Robert" (tá a fhíorainm agam, agus níl sé "Robert"). Is cuma liom má bhíonn siad ina mbuachaillí/gcailíní béasacha, ach mairg don té a bhíonn ina Throll/Troll mar cúpla daoine an bhliain seo chaite. http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

quote:agus níl sé "Robert" FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin Táim lánchinnte gur féidir leat é sin a cheartú. ;-) Dála an scéil, chuir Aonghus in iúl dom go príobháideach nach bhfuil "right of passage", an dóigh ar scríobh mise é i dteachtaireacht inniu, nach bhfuil sé ceart. Agus an ceart ar fad aige! :-) Tá eagarthóir ag teastáil uainn uilig ó am go ham. |

Information such as IP Address locators like http://www.arin.net/whois/ has been posted at this discussion board before if one wanted to check to see where unregistered guests were posting from. You may recall the discussion on why some people choose not to register at Daltaí. Is cuma liomsa faoi cibé ainm a thugar air (got this at focal.ie). Maidhc Bím ag foghlaim Fáilte Roimh Cheartú

Sure and I always suspected that they were one in the same but I kept quiet until now because I didn't want to scare himself away. I missed Robert and whether BRN is him or not that missing has ceased, so be it what it may be. Am I supposed to spell whare as where, is that what I'm doing wrong? Beir bua agus beannacht |

Am I supposed to spell whare as where, is that what I'm doing wrong? Sure and it's another perculiar Ríona-ism -- I think it has become your trademark, so maybe you should leave it as is. http://www.gaeilge.org FRC - Fáilte Roimh Cheartúcháin

Shawneen.......ceann do mná??? Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown, He's a clown that Charlie Brown He's gonna get caught Just you wait and see (Why's everybody always pickin' on me?) A Riona, a chara, where is spelled where But, if it makes you feel any better, I went by a clothing store today whose name is "Wearhouse" And I agree with Cionaodh. whare is one of your trademarks and maybe you should leave it as is. If Noah Webster were still with us, he would probably have changed the spelling from "where" to "whare." |
